Home Again

Well, I got back home at around noon on Wednesday, and my luggage arrived home around 8:30 pm. It got a little lost at JFK. Jose and I left Bage on Monday, stopping at the Federal Police to have my passport stamped, and headed out to the border town of Acegua. We got my passport stamped for Uruguay and visited his Aunt Nelli and saw a little cemetery where some family members are.

We stopped in Melo quickly for a little bite to eat where I found out for the first time that mating dogs get stuck together for a while. They were stuck right on the sidewalk where we were eating lunch. Interesting.

I drove a bit between a gas station near Melo to Minas and Jose took over (thankfully) until we got to Eduardo's back in Montevideo. Eduardo made a delicious meal that was kind of like shepard's pie, but more flavorful. We watched a TV program about Bernini before I headed to bed. We left for the airport relatively early, but stopped to see Tia Maria at the Rambla and drove the scenic route to the airport.

I miss my new Brazilian friends but I'm happy to be home again. I had taco bell (something of a tradition after coming home from the airport nowadays) and I had sushi for dinner tonight. In Brazil none of the food was spicy and though there was some sushi in Porto Alegre, I didn't want to try it out in a place unknown to me (I hesitate depending on where I am in the US, too).

The first part of the video below is Mauricio singing about eating... I think he made himself hungry.
